Age of Wonders 4 Achievements: Unlock Guide and Order

Winning a realm is only part of the checklist. Age of Wonders 4 achievements also ask you to build specific factions, craft unusual gear, and complete tightly defined combat challenges. Pick your targets before starting a campaign so you can plan around their requirements.

How the Achievement Checklist Works

The Steam checklist includes objectives tied to exploration, tactical combat, ruler choices, faction development, and expansion scenarios.

  • Steam achievement total: 120.
  • Achievements add to your Steam profile without granting gameplay bonuses.

Read each objective literally. Requirements such as “the same Free City,” “in a single battle,” and a named ruler type determine what counts. Keep those restrictions visible while planning your campaign.

Base Game Achievements: Exploration and Combat

These two targets introduce different parts of the game: clearing a world-map location and overcoming a dangerous tactical encounter.

A Wonderful DiscoveryClear an Ancient Wonder.
Against the OddsManually win a battle rated high risk.

For A Wonderful Discovery, make an Ancient Wonder a deliberate exploration objective and prepare your army before attempting the clear.

For Against the Odds, check the battle’s risk rating and choose manual combat. An automatic resolution does not satisfy its manual-combat requirement. Plan your positioning, spells, and target selection before taking on the encounter.

DLC Achievements: Rulers, Factions, and Dragons

These objectives depend on particular rulers, faction features, transformations, or creatures. Choose the relevant content and faction setup before investing in a long campaign.

Eternal DragonWays of WarSummon either a Prosperity Dragon or a Calamity Dragon.
Crystal CrownGiant KingsWin while playing as a Giant King.
Symphony of BloodThrones of BloodWin while playing as an Elder Vampire.

For All-Devourer, put both faction requirements on your checklist: Insectoid form and the Umbral transformation. Then carry that faction through to victory.

Keep Blood of the Dragon separate from your dragon collection goal. Its requirement concerns a transformed Dragon Lord, while Draconic Connoisseur asks for four named dragon origins.

For Favored by the Spirits, follow the objective through becoming a Primal Avatar. Completing the quest is only one part of the stated condition.

DLC Achievements: Combat, Crafting, and Empire Goals

These challenges reward attention to individual actions and development milestones. Several contain a restriction that is easy to overlook while managing a growing empire.

A Very Special RingEmpires and AshesForge a ring with at least three infusions, including Universal Camouflage.
Graze TacticsPrimal FuryConsume six Flora Obstacles during one battle.
Destined HeroWays of WarFulfill both the Major and Minor Ambitions of a hero.

As ForetoldArchon ProphecyFulfill a vision granted by a Prophecy Trait.
Magnum OpusArchon ProphecyConstruct a Monument Apex belonging to any affinity.
All Aboard!Rise from RuinPack up a Tier 4 Nomad city.
Failed SuccessfullyRise from RuinHave a spell backfire and produce a positive effect.

Keep these details in mind when pursuing the more specific objectives:

  • A Conqueror's Cohort: Track your Intimidate uses against a single Free City. Spreading the three uses across different cities misses the requirement.
  • A Very Special Ring: Include Universal Camouflage among the ring’s three or more infusions.
  • Graze Tactics: Count all six Flora Obstacles within the same battle.
  • Destined Hero: Complete both ambition categories for one hero.
  • All Aboard!: Wait until the Nomad city reaches Tier 4 before packing it up for this objective.
  • Failed Successfully: Look for a positive result from the backfire; a backfire alone does not meet the condition.

For Magnum Opus, choose an affinity that fits your campaign. The achievement accepts a Monument Apex of any affinity.

Story Scenario Achievements

These entries call for completion of a named scenario. Match the scenario title to your target before starting.

ArcalotEldritch RealmsFinish “Eldritch Realms: Arcalot.”
Blood and CourtshipThrones of BloodFinish “Thrones of Blood: Blood and Courtship.”
EvermoreSecrets of the ArchmagesFinish “Secrets of the Archmages: Evermore.”
The Azh'Ruun PitSecrets of the ArchmagesFinish “Secrets of the Archmages: The Azh'Ruun Pit.”

Keep scenario completion separate from ruler victories in your plan. Blood and Courtship names a specific scenario, while Symphony of Blood requires a victory as an Elder Vampire.

Completion Order

Organize your completion attempt around the requirements that shape an entire campaign, then fit narrower objectives into those plans.

  1. Start with exploration and tactical objectives. Target an Ancient Wonder, then pursue a high-risk manual victory when you are prepared for the fight.
  2. Work through named scenarios. Track Arcalot, Blood and Courtship, Evermore, and The Azh'Ruun Pit individually.
  3. Plan ruler and faction victories. Build campaigns around the Giant King, Elder Vampire, and Umbral-transformed Insectoid requirements.
  4. Add compatible development goals. Include dragon collection, Primal Spirit progression, hero ambitions, Landmarks, or Monument Apex construction where they fit your chosen campaign.
  5. Check precise action requirements before committing. Review the ring’s infusions, the Nomad city’s tier, and the single-battle Flora count at the moment each becomes relevant.
  6. Finish with your remaining locked Steam entries. Use each achievement’s exact description to choose the next ruler, scenario, or campaign objective.
